We worked with artist Louisa Bailley and Seddons GRC to return the lost details to the facade. The DCC wanted a space that was new, flexible, fresh and innovative for their staff to collaborate and work in. Other items to consider, was the use of technology such as 3D printers and computers. After long deliberations, deep discussions the panels are laid out and placed carefully in their correct order making sure everything is in the perfect place for the visitor. Jonny begins painstakingly mounting each panel with extreme precision, while Mark plays with the tools and looks like he’s doing heaps of work. As with many buildings of its period it had been modified for earthquake resistance and its ornate parapets shaved off in the 1980s. We worked with conservation architect Ian Bowman to reconstruct the missing elements and the results are stunning.
